Lavon Williams - President
Lavon was born and raised in Volusia County Florida. He graduated from Deland Senior High School, Deland Fl., in 1982. Lavon is a veteran of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1988. He went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach Fl. Lavon graduated with a B.S. Degree in Professional Aeronautics in 1992. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1993 and serves as Chairman of the Health Ministry at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville Fl. Lavon has worked in emergency medicine for the past 15 years. He is also a CPR Instructor, Professional Firefighter and a Paramedic. Cathy is a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and is active in their health ministry team and serves as a eucharistic minister to the sick She is owner and Administrator of Winston House Assisted Living - an assisted living home in Maitland. She also volunteers for Vitas Hospice and she is a board member with the Executive Women's Golf Association.. Cathy can be reached at

Cris Parsons - Vice President
Cristina Parson has been a Winter Park resident for 15 years. At this time, she is a full time wife and mother of three children. She maintains an active community involvement balanced with her busy family life. Her service has included two terms on the City of Winter Park’s Keep Winter Park Beautiful Board, current PTA member, 6 years as a Council member and chair of the Health Cabinet at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Cristina is a graduate of the FBS Diakonia program and has been approved for consecration as a Synodical Deacon. She is also a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader. Cristina believes that faith, wholeness and wellness are inseparable.

Betsy McKeeby - Director
Betsy has served as parish nurse at First United Methodist Church of Winter Park since November 2003. Her RN background has primarily included work in coronary care and cardiac rehabilitation with an emphasis on helping people achieve a healthy lifestyle after they have learned of a heart diagnosis. Growing up as a Methodist preacher’s kid in East Tennessee, she graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She has additional coursework in adult education, clinical pastoral education and parish nursing and is certified in cardiac and vascular nursing by the ANCC. Gigi Erwin - Director
Gigi has been the Parish nurse at Winter Park Presbyterian Church since May 2011. She is a native Floridian, but moved to Dallas, Texas, after graduating from college. She received her Associate Degree in Science in Nursing from St. Petersburg Jr. College and in March 2011 completed the Parish Nurse Preparatory Training at Florida Hospital Parish Nurse Institute. Her 30 years of nursing experience include more than 10 years in Obstetrics, several years in Cardiology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and several years as a Hospice Nurse. She worked for five years at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies before accepting the call to be a Parish Nurse. She and her husband, Gary, moved to central Florida seven years ago to be closer to family. They have one grown daughter, Darcy, who lives with her husband and 5 year old son in Tallahassee, Florida. Gary and Gigi attend Real Life Christian Church in Clermont, where Gigi has been active in the children’s ministry.
Michelle Hodge - Director
Michelle Covelli Hodge is a native of Maitland, Florida. She recently accepted the parish nurse position at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in August 2011. Michelle has earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Service with a Biology minor, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Healthcare Administration. Michelle's background experience as a Registered Nurse was concentrated in adult Medical/Surgical and Trauma ICU. She has held various positions at a Level one Trauma center in Charlotte, N.C. that included: staff nurse, preceptor, nurse manager and a faculty member at Carolinas College of Health Sciences. Michelle and her husband David returned to Florida in 2003 to raise their family and grow spiritually at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Michelle is looking forward to working in her new role and partnering with different congregations in an effort to raise awareness in one’s mind, body and spirit.
Stephanie Spies - Director
Stephanie is a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church and is an active memeber in their Health and Wellness Minisrty. She has worked in Higher Education for 6 years focusing on health and wellness. She has a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Central Florida.
Tom Hackim - Director
Tom Hackim has been an active parishioner at Annunciation Catholic Church since 1986 when he moved to the area from Ohio. He founded the Peace & Justice Ministry at Annunciation in 2001 and served as its chair until 2010. Then he founded the Health & Healing Ministry in 2010. Tom was commissioned in the three-year diocesan Lay Ecclesial Ministry Formation Program in 2003 and has been a facilitator in the same program since 2006. Tom lives in Maitland with his Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier. Professionally he has been involved in Sales and Marketing since 1977. He holds a BS in Business from The University of Akron and an MBA from The Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Regina Buchanan - Director
Regina Buchanan is the Faith Community Nurse at Maitland Presbyterian Church and First Congregational Church of Winter Park. With a true dependency on God and almost twenty years of diverse experience as an RN, she brings a wholistic perspective to her practice today. She is a recent graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition’s Certified Health Coaching program. Regina is a gifted advocate and teacher and is most passionate about living a life that reflects the fullness of the promise we have in Christ; A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. Denise Schmalze - Director
Denise Schmalzle has served at Faith Community Nurse at Redeemer Lutheran Church since February 2011 after completing the Parish Nurse Training Course at Florida Hospital. She is an RN (BSN), receiving her degree in 1996 from Youngstown State University, Ohio. Prior to moving to Florida, her family completed 12 years of service with ELCA Global Mission. During that time, she served as a Parish Nurse at the international Lutheran Congregation in Nairobi, Kenya. Denise is married to Pr. Bob Schmalzle, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kissimmee. They have two adult sons, Aaron and Jacob.
Teona Morris - Director
Teona Morris, founder of LifeWeigh to Fabulous & Healthy Living, is a dynamic certified life and wellness coach with a diverse background ranging from a professional acting/modeling career to teaching, coaching and motivational speaking. Teona serves in a leadership capacity for several health-related not-for-profit entities in Central Florida. She is often featured in health and wellness webinars which reach people from all over the country. Teona is a certified seminar facilitator for Florida Hospital’s CREATION Health, Fitness for Life, and is an active member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Teona’s vast knowledge of holistic nutrition coupled with her keen insight into America’s obsession with food and fad diets formed the basis of her successful weight management program. Her whole-person approach is a faith-based interactive program which provides a comprehensive look into the physiology, psychology and spirituality behind weight issues. With wit and wisdom, Teona has helped thousands of people over the past 10 years to lose weight, reverse weight-related issues and enjoy living a healthier lifestyle. Teona, a graduate of the University of Central Florida, is currently pursuing a ND from the Trinity College of Natural Health. Teona serves as the chairperson for the 2013 OWC’s Living a Healthy Lifestyle Expo.
Kimberly Hicks - Director
Dr. Kimberly M. Hicks is co-founder of the Central Florida Coalition for Health Awareness, Inc. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. and has practiced pharmacy in the State of Florida for over 20 years. Dr. Hicks is presently serving as a clinical pharmacy specialist with Bioplus Specialty Pharmacy where she provides pharmacokinetic services for amino glycosides and vancomycin therapy along with clinical support for home infusion patients. She also specializes in disease and drug therapy management of patients on biotech medications with a special emphasis on Hepatitis C Disease Management. She is a licensed Pharmacy Consultant with the State of Florida and the State of Oregon, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology for City College, Altamonte Springs, FL, where she shares her passion for health education by teaching Pharmacology to allied health students.
Tonja Williams - Director
Tonja Williams is a graduate from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She began her nursing career at Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center. While employed at Tallahassee Memorial, her professional career flourished in the areas of Maternal / Child and Neurology. In January 1996 Tonja relocated to Orlando, FL and continued her career at Orlando Regional Medical Center with an emphasis on Internal Medicine. Tonja continued to excel in her professional career with valuable experiences in education, nursing administration, and marketing. In 1999 Tonja became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Eatonville, FL where she experienced enormous spiritual growth. Accepting her calling as Parish Nurse, Tonja completed the Parish Nurse Preparatory Program at the Florida Hospital Parish Nurse Institute in September 2007. With prayer, guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the support of Pastor Willie C Barnes, the Parish Nurse Ministry was implemented at Macedonia in October 2007. As Parish Nurse, Tonja remains faithful and dedicated in her service to the Lord. She currently serves as Co-Chair for the Health Ministry and is an active member of the Addictive Behavior Recovery Ministry (ABRM) as well as Women’s Ministry. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Black Nurses Association. Tonja is the proud mother of son, Channing.
Leah Nash - Executive Director
Leah serves as Executive Director of Our Whole Community, providing executive management to the organization. She does not sit on the Board of Directors or have a vote but she does represent Our Whole Community in the community. Leah received her Bachelor's Degree from Rollins College in Anthropology and Communications and then received her Master's of Arts in Communication from the University of Central Florida. She has 15 years of experience in communications/marketing in the Central Florida area in a myriad of different industries. Leah owns a marketing/communications/executive management company called
